Each attempt draws 30 questions from a pool of 60, so a retake is a fresh test. Find a quiet spot. The timer starts when you press the button and keeps running if you leave the page. You can skip a question and go back to it. Don't use a calculator or search engine, or your score won't mean much.
About this IQ test
Most "free IQ tests" online are personality quizzes with a number attached. This one is a real reasoning test. Every question has one correct answer, and the score comes only from how many you get right in the time.
What the four areas measure
- Patterns: spotting the rule in a grid of shapes, a classic test of fluid reasoning.
- Numbers: finding the rule behind a number series.
- Verbal: analogies, odd-one-out and vocabulary.
- Logic: short reasoning puzzles where the obvious answer is often wrong.
How the score is calculated
Your number of correct answers is placed on the IQ scale, where 100 is average and about two thirds of people score between 85 and 115. The scale is provisional: it assumes an average adult answers about 17 of 30 correctly, and we will refine it as more people take the test. That is why we show a range, not a single exact number.
An official IQ score needs a standardised test given in person by a licensed psychologist.
